Dr. Steven Swengel has always been a promoter of the use of topical retinoids as one of the basic and most important foundations for healthy skin. Virtually all skin types can handle Retin-A, or a retinol if the proper vehicle and concentration are chosen for your skin. Tretinoins are among the few products on the market which have been clinically proven to increase epidermal turnover, increase epidermal thickness, increase collagen production in the dermis, and decrease pigmentation as well as diminish pore size over time. Others promise to do this, but only Retin-A delivers. The real key to the healthy skin at any age is to keep the skin moving and turning over. Retin- A achieves this so let’s find one that works for you. For those who find tretinoins in any strength tend to irritate your skin, have hope! Skin needs to be protected and there are two important factors in achieving this. First and most important are sunscreens which block both UVA/UVB rays from damaging your skin.
