Skin Care After BBL, Halo, MLP and Microneedling

You have just completed a laser skin rejuvenation or mirconeedling treatment to your skin that will require post-treatment skin care specific to the treatment you received. Some of these treatments are considered nonablative in that the treatment is focused on discoloration, pigmentation and stimulation of collagen-building without doing any visible or physical damage to the surface of the skin. In these treatments, the visible changes are some redness, darkening of skin pigment and some swelling right after the treatment. For these treatments, we use skin care to focus on controlling the swelling and inflammation and of course protecting the skin from sun exposure. When the treatments get more aggressive and become ablative, there is visible damage to the surface of the skin, ie: raw skin that may or may not demonstrate pinpoint bleeding. There still will be redness, swelling, and mild tenderness, but our focus here is to not only control swelling and tenderness but protect the skin from infection, irritation and acne outbreaks until the skin ‘seals’ itself and begins to repair and return to normal.

PAIN CONTROL: Any OTC products such as Aleve, Advil, Naprosyn, Tylenol can be used at your discretion. We advise not taking aspirin as this can cause delayed bruising. If pain is severe, we should be notified immediately.

CLEANSING: Gentle cleansers such as: Cetaphil, CeraVe , or Epionce Milk Cleanser can be used for red or raw skin as it heals. Cool water compressing, or dilute vinegar( 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar in a pint of cool water) compresses help to hydrate the skin and decrease inflammation. A lot of patients find the cooling mist of Avene Spring Water to be of benefit during the ‘hot’phase of recovery.

SUGGESTED SKIN CARE AFTER EACH TREATMENT:
BBL/GENESIS/LASER TONING: Gentle Cleansers, ELTA MD POST LASER GEL, ZINC BASED SUNSCREEN. All can be started immediately. All current skin care products can be restarted in 24 hours.

MICRONEEDLING: Cool compresses, NEOCUTIS HYALIS GEL for 24 hours after the treatment. No other products to be used for the first 24 hours. After 24 HOURS, continue with HYALIS as needed. You can return to normal skin care products after 24 hours.

HALO and INFINI: Same skin care treatment as with microneedling; Cool compresses, NEOCUTIS HYALIS GEL for 24 hours after the treatment. No other products to be used for the first 24 hours. After 24 HOURS, continue with HYALIS as needed. Bioactive products such as DefenAge, and Regenica support faster healing for those who are interested in fastest recovery. You can return to normal skin care products after 24 hours. Swelling can be addressed with ice packs. For those who tend to swell, we offer a short course of prednisone for the first 24 hours. OK to return to normal skin care products except for any scrubs, glycolics, or Retin A. These can be restarted in one week.

MLP/NanoPeels. Cool Compresses get the fire out fast. For the, more superficial ablative laser treatments we recommend the Therma Spring Water, cold compresses and Texone RHA Deep Repair Balm. Sunscreens are essential once the skin heals.
